Produced in the Shõnai area, this farmer's coat is shown in the publication titled 'The Unknown Craftsman, A Japanese Insight into Beauty' which was produced in 1972 by his lifelong friend the British potter Bernard Leach (1887-1979). The publication describes Yanagi Soetsu's philosophy on Japanese Folk Crafts.
